GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Gordic have five different size of automatic filling machines F10, F35, F60, F120 and F160 the number stands for the rate of tubes per minute. Besides these, we have also a small F1, semi-automatic filling machine that only fills the tube. All machines are filling the tablets into the tubes with the Gordic RotaFill®-system.

ROTAFILL®-SYSTEM

The GORDIC filling machines are built around one single, ingenious idea; when a circular item like a tablet slides into a rotating cylinder, it begins to rotate too. At the same time it raises to a position perpendicular to the cylinder. We named this idea the ROTAFILL®-system and it is a unique technology for gentle counting and filling cylindrical tablets in tubes. It's especially suitable for fragile products like effervescent tablets.

FILLING
MACHINE

The fillingmachines is fully automated and protected against personal injuries according to the valid CE-norm.

In the cassette on the tablet table, the tablets are counted. When the preselected number of tablets is accumulated in each of the channels, they are gently filled into the rotating tubes with the ROTAFILL®-system.

After filling, the tubes are transported on a chain/belt conveyor towards the level control and capping station. Correctly filled tubes are automatically capped. Tubes with wrong level and tubes with missing caps is rejected.

After capping, the tubes are discharged and can be taken care of manually or transported away on a conveying unit. Inkjet printing is preferably made during transport on the conveying unit.

The GORDIC filling machine can be equipped with format parts for different dimensions of tablets, tubes and caps, all material in contact with the open products is GMP approved.

Both temperature and humidity is important to have control over in the production premises, and we recommend that the temperature and the relative humidity does not exceed 20 degrees Celsius and 20% relative air humidity.

TUBE
FEEDING

There is mainly three different ways to feed empty tubes into the machines.

1: Internal tube magazine: The F10, F35, F60 and the basic F120 have an internal magazine were you manually place cartoons with oriented empty tubes. After a couple of minutes the cartons needs to be replaced and the production is not interrupted or affected during this process. The internal magazine works booth for plastic and aluminium tubes.

2: External tube magazine: A magazine similar to the one that is mounted internally in the filling machines is placed at any location, inside or outside the room. The tubes are transported to the filling machine on a FlexLink® conveyor equipped with cleated chain. The advantage to have an external magazine is that pallets with empty tubes can be stored next to the magazine and not in the filling room where the air is controlled and the space often is limited. The external magazine works booth for plastic and aluminium tubes.

3: Tube feeder: The tube feeder is equipped with a big container which can hold about 3000, empty tubes delivered in sacks are placed in the container. The tubes is transported up to a station where all the tubes is orientated and then sliding on a chute down to a FlexLink® conveyor, that are transporting the tubes to the filling machine. The tube feeder is usually located outside the filling room next to the cartooning machine, this is a very effective and clean way to handle tubes. The tube feeder is normally only used for plastic tubes, aluminium tubes can get damaged when you put them in a container

We manufacture the F35 only with an internal magazine, compact, small and inexpensive. The F60 is normally sold with an internal magazine, but can be equipped with an external magazine or a tube feeder. The F120 is our most sold machine and mostly equipped with a tube feeder. The F160 can only be equipped with a tube feeder or an external tube magazine.

There is also the possibility to mount both a tube feeder and an external magazine mounted on the same FlexLink® conveyor, you use the tube feeder for the plastic tubes and the external magazine for the aluminium tubes.

TABLET
FEEDING

The most preferred way to feed tablet to the filling machines, is to feed them directly inline from a tablet press over a small conveyor and them into the filling machines tablet table. In this way you minimize the handling of the tablets that could cause damage to the tablets.

If production facilities or other logistic reasons prevent you produce directly inline from the tablet press, we can offer an effective tablet feeder so you can feed tablets from bulk. The feeder is newly developed and has a unique sorting of broken tablets and tablet pieces, which makes it probably the most efficient on the market. But you must aware that this increases the risk to have some damage on the tablets, because of the extra handling caused by bulk feeding.

To improve the flow and handling of the tablets to the filling machine is a possibility to mount our unique floating table named AirSlide®. It works in following way, a perforated plate is mounted on top of a bowl and air is blown into the bowl and then gets the tablets to float above the perforated plate. A cover is place above the plate, at the front edge of the plate is an exhaust mounted upwards. The air is then circulated through a filter, which holds the dust. The AirSlide® has several functions such as buffering, gentle distribution and de dusting of the tablets. You can feed the AirSlide® directly from a tablet press or from a tablet feeder. Gordic normally only delivers the AirSlide® table, the ventilation system, filter and cooler needs to be supplied and integrated by the customer.

CAP
FEEDING

The caps feeder is a The cap feeder is on the F60, F120 and F160 located next to the filling machine and on the F35 integrated in the filling machine. The F10 filling machine has no cap feeder, the caps needs to be manually oriented and placed in a trap in the end of the chute. The feeders is a modified Hoppmann® centrifugal feeder that is orienting and feeding the caps into a trap and on to the cap trays in which the caps are ready to be placed on the tubes. Above the cap feeder is a pre feeder with a container mounted, the container can be loaded with about 2000 caps.

An optional pre feeder can be used and placed in a different room in a similar way as the tube feeder, the caps is also transported to the main cap pre feeder on a FlexLink® conveyor. In this way is the operator free from lifting the boxes with caps up to the pre feeder above the cap feeder. The container for caps on the optional pre feeder is placed on the floor and it contains also more caps that the internal cap pre feeder.
